"Tracer! Tracer! I can't lose you, Tracer!" Tracer's vision slowly came to. She could see Winston, her life-saving ape of a friend standing in front of her, a large amount of fluid and a thick sheet of glass separating them. "Winston... iz... iz dat you?" She said, her voice slightly tinnier than usual. "What's wrong, luv?" Winston's sobbing stopped suddenly as he lifted his head from his arms. "Tracer... is that you!?" The ape placed his arms to the glass, a look of elation spread across his tear soaked mug.
"Well yah, yah big galoot! Who else wuld I be?" Tracer teased, having settled in her unit. Winston wiped the tear from his eye, "Not who... what." He held up a mirror to the unit, Tracer's light thoughts audibly silenced as she saw herself. She was no longer a spry british bird, but a large mass of unshaped goo. "Wot... wot 'appened to me?" Tracer asked, confused by her state. Winston's head hung low from the question.
"You... you tried to stop someone from assassinating an important delegate. They overpowered you and pushed you off a building, breaking your Temporal Anchor." He pointed to the telemetry holding above the device. "It wasn't fully broken, but the rapid splitting and returning wreaked havok on your systems. By the time we found you, you were simply..." He choked up for a moment, "this. I've been trying for weeks to get you back to a normal state... but it seems like it's not possible. Your body's too far torn from time proper to be able to remain stable. I've been keeping you here, hoping you'd return to consciousness; that I'd be able to help you." Winston's eyes begun to tear up again.
"Well, yah seem ta have done well enuff with me as I am." Tracer consoled, "I'm happy you've done this much for me." Winston returned to looking at her, still sullen. "But what about your body? You're not much more than chronotic goo at this point." Winston said, self disparagement carrying heavily in his tone. "Yeah, and up till you saved be before I barely existed!" Tracer retorted, "This seems like much less of a setback. In fact..." Tracer concentrated hard, pulling on her bits and pieces until they took a shape resembling what she once was. "See? I'm still me. And I'm sure I can still help overwatch!" Winston wiped his nose, sniffling. "But... but how? You aren't exactly able to do much from a jar..." Tracer simply scoffed at the ape. "Well, I'm sure it's not the jar keeping me stable, is it? It's your wonderful tech all around here that's keepin all my chronons and what have you in order! Just rig that up into another personal unit, and ah'll be gud tah go!" Even without a mouth, Winston could still feel the scrappy spirit of Tracer pushing through. She was right, he couldn't just let this fall to moping, and he took right to work.

A few months had passed since the first regaining of consciousness. It didn't take long for Winston to re-purpose the old temporal anchor into a stabilizer unit; one that wouldn't be so easily broken without helping Tracer. That alongside some work on her old gauntlets and the thought to voice translator needed for communication, and soon she was back out of that jar. What took longer was rehabilitation, helping her keep herself solid on her own volition, and generally using her body as it was. In time she came to far outpace her old skills, the gelatinous form greatly improving her flexibility and dexterity, alongside a surprising realization that her own chronotic goop could be used to influence the time of others with a solid lob. "Well den, Winston; wat say you dat we go tell the othahs tha good news?" Tracer knocked her head excitedly, zipping about the room. "This membah of Ovahwatch is ready to rejoin the fight!" Her recovery was nothing short of a success, and Winston could not be more relieved.
